The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism, known as Mincetur, is working in Ucayali to promote tourism, handicrafts, and exports. All of this is aimed at boosting the local economy. It also seeks to create more opportunities for entrepreneurs, producers, and communities.

First and foremost, tourism is a priority. Ucayali has 62 registered tourist sites. Of these, 46 are already ranked by importance. In addition, the region has a tourism plan in place. This plan organizes the work and defines three tourist areas. During 2025, Mincetur provided technical support. In this way, it helped to improve the management of the Ucayali destination, which has national reach.

On the other hand, the Turismo Emprende program supported two tourism businesses. These won the 2025 competition. In total, they received more than 161,000 soles. Likewise, with the Somos Artesanía strategy, 12 artisan workshops received more than 56,000 soles. In addition, the artisans continued to receive ongoing training.

In terms of promotion, Promperú launched national campaigns. These included “Vívelo en Perú” (Live it in Peru) and “La Selva está de vuelta” (The Jungle is Back). Each campaign reached 6.5 million people. In addition, Ucayali participated in fairs and business roundtables. Partnerships were also formed with airlines and sales platforms. As a result, more than 40,000 domestic tourists are expected to arrive in 2025.

Progress was also made in tourism infrastructure. The UICET is carrying out important works in Pucallpa. For example, it improved the Plaza de Armas and the Malecón del Reloj Público. Currently, both projects are 100% complete.

In the handicraft sector, CITE Artesanía Ucayali played a key role. During 2025, it helped more than 375 artisans. They received training, support for innovation, and assistance in formalizing their businesses. In addition, the sale of products in markets in Peru and abroad was promoted.

Finally, foreign trade is also showing progress. Mincetur is implementing the Export Production Route in Ucayali. This work focuses on cocoa and chocolate. Thanks to these actions, 1,780 producer families have improved their capabilities. They now produce better. In addition, they manage their businesses better and export more easily. At the same time, progress is being made on the regional export plan and on improving logistics.
