The Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism, known as PROMPERÚ, attended the OTM 2026 Fair. This fair is one of the most important events for tourism in India and Asia. It was held in the city of Mumbai, India, from February 5 to 7.

During the three days, PROMPERÚ worked alongside a Peruvian delegation of 17 tourism companies. For example, tour operators and companies with products for travelers participated. In total, they made nearly 3,400 business contacts with people in the tourism sector. Thanks to this, a potential business of $4.2 million was generated. This figure is higher than the $2.6 million achieved at last year’s fair.

At this international event, PROMPERÚ showcased the best of Peru’s tourism and culture. As a result, many people learned about the country’s landscapes, history of Machu Picchu, and customs. The objective was clear: to strengthen Peru as a destination offering unique experiences. In addition, India is a market that is growing increasingly important in the world.

Peru’s presence at OTM 2026 was its third consecutive appearance at this fair. For this reason, a wide variety of tourist offerings were promoted, making it easy to compare them. Cultural, nature, and luxury experiences were presented, with ideas for different types of travelers. The offerings of Lima, Ica, Cusco, Puno (Uros floating islands), Loreto, and Madre de Dios were highlighted.

In addition, Peruvian cultural activities were presented during the days of the fair. This was made possible thanks to coordinated efforts with the Peruvian Embassy in India. As a result, many visitors were surprised and admired what they saw in the Peruvian pavilion.

Furthermore, the event organizers awarded Peru with the “Best Design and Decoration Award.” This was because the stand’s design was inspired by Ayacucho altarpieces. The award also shows that the Indian public is increasingly interested in Andean folk art.

On February 9, a business roundtable was held in New Delhi. Fifteen Peruvian companies participated in this meeting, which was also attended by nearly 60 Indian tourism companies. The meeting helped to promote Peru and position it as a preferred destination in that market.

These efforts are part of Mincetur’s strategy, through PROMPERÚ. The aim is to strengthen Peru’s position in the competitive Asian market. In addition, the aim is to attract travelers from India and Asia who spend more on their trips and seek special experiences.
