First, Peru aims to attract more international film productions. That is why the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (PROMPERÚ) is participating in the European audiovisual market. This time, it is attending MAFIZ, an event that forms part of the renowned Málaga Film Festival 2026. The festival takes place in the city of Málaga, where producers, directors, and film companies from many countries gather.

Additionally, PROMPERÚ is returning to the festival for the second year in a row. This time, it’s doing so with the “Film In Peru” strategy. Thanks to this initiative, the country showcases its landscapes and cities as perfect settings for filming movies. Thus, various activities are taking place during the festival. The goal is clear: to convince directors, producers, and location specialists to film in Peru.

Throughout the week, visitors can stop by the Peru booth. There, the Film In Peru team explains why the country is ideal for filming. They also showcase regions with unique landscapes. Some places feature jungle. Others have mountains. There are even modern cities and historic sites.

Furthermore, the material presented makes one thing very clear: Peru offers a wide variety of settings within a single country. For example, you can film in the Amazon, in the Andes, or on the shores of the Pacific Ocean. All of this makes it possible to tell very different stories within a single production.

An Event that Brings the Film Industry Together

Meanwhile, Film In Peru organized a special event as part of MAFIZ. More than 80 European film professionals participated in this gathering. The discussion focused on opportunities for filming in Peru. The support available to foreign productions that choose to film in the country was also explained.

This way, producers learn how the support system works. They gain a better understanding of the processes and resources available to bring an audiovisual project to fruition in Peru.

Thirteen Peruvian films head to the Málaga Film Festival

Meanwhile, Peruvian cinema is also shining at the festival. In total, thirteen productions are participating in the event. Among them is “La hija cóndor,” directed by Álvaro Olmos. Also featured is “El corazón del lobo,” by renowned director Francisco Lombardi.

Additionally, Lombardi will receive a special tribute during the festival. On March 12, he will be honored with the Retrospective Award. This award celebrates a career spanning over fifty years in cinema.

Film In Peru: The Gateway to Filming Unique Stories

Ultimately, Film In Peru aims to position the country as one of the leading film destinations in Latin America. The initiative is run by PROMPERÚ. Its work helps foreign productions film in the country more easily.

For example, the team provides support with visa procedures. It also assists with filming permits and logistical services. Additionally, it connects production companies with public and private entities. Thanks to all this support, more and more projects are discovering something important: Peru is not just a tourist destination. It is also the perfect setting for telling stories to the world.
