PROMPERÚ, is an agency of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism specialised as a Technical Agency, has teamed up with Air Europa to enhance Peru’s presence as a tourist destination in Spain.

With this partnership, both entities will implement an integrated online advertisement campaign consisting of sponsored content on Air Europa’s social media platforms, banners on their website, as well as email online advertising. Additionally, this campaign will also involve offline advertisement as well as advertisement spaces in Europa, which is the in-flight magazine of the airline. This will result in over 41 million impressions of Peru among Spanish travelers in Peru.

Beginning from January until June 2026, the campaign will focus on a number of Peruvian regions with tourist appeal, such as Amazonas, Ancash, Arequipa, Cusco, Ica, Lima, Loreto, and Puno. In addition to promotion, this partnership also aims to increase Peru’s air connectivity to other international destinations, which plays a vital role in promoting tourist development.

This campaign aligns with the “Perú Wow” campaign that is being executed by PROMPERÚ in the first quarter of 2026 in ten important markets around the world, including Spain. The “Perú Wow” campaign has been designed to encourage people to admire and be in awe of Peruvian nature, history, and cuisine.

Air Europa operates flights to over 50 destinations around the world, connecting Spain and Europe to over 20 destinations in the Americas from their key hub in Adolfo Suárez Madrid – Barajas Airport. Air Europa operates seven direct flights per week from Madrid to Lima.

Importance of the Spanish Market

Spain offers the greatest number of tourists to Peru among all European countries, and it also takes the seventh position in this regard among all other destinations worldwide. On the other hand, a tourist from Spain in 2024 will, on average, spend around $1,840.

From January to October 2025, a total of 2,845,828 foreign tourists arrived in Peru, with 119,065 of those tourists from Spain. This shows a 4.8 percent increase from 2024, which recorded 113,583 tourists from Spain. PROMPERÚ, which operates as a branch of Peru’s MINCETUR, remains actively engaged in promoting their country’s tourist offerings worldwide as part of a comprehensive strategy to position Peru as a diverse, competitive, and world class tourist destination.
