Promotion of Pope Leo XIV route in Miraflores with cultural activities
Jesus Calixto - December 13, 2025

The Municipality of Miraflores, the Regional Government of Lambayeque, and Promperú are working together. They are promoting 24 tourist sites that are part of Pope Leo XIV’s route. The initiative aims to attract more visitors.

The circuits were carefully chosen. First, the places where Pope Leo XIV lived were reviewed. Then, the sites where he carried out his pastoral work were considered. Thus, the route includes Trujillo, Chiclayo, Piura, and Callao.

The Municipality of Miraflores is also actively participating. For example, it provided a space in its plaza. This place is located on Los Pintores Passage. It is also in front of the Church of the Miraculous Virgin, in Kennedy Park. Information panels and modules were installed there. Activities are also being held to inform people about Pope Leo XIV’s route.

The mayor of Miraflores, Carlos Canales, explained the event. First, he indicated that it will be on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. Then, he pointed out that it will end at 9:00 p.m. During that time, there will be dances such as the marinera chiclayana. In addition, sweets such as king kong and typical foods such as chicharrones will be offered. Questions about the life of Pope Leo XIV will also be asked. Those who answer correctly will win souvenirs. This way, everyone can learn and take home a memento. The most important thing, said the mayor, is to publicize the route and increase tourism in the country.

A representative from the Regional Government of Lambayeque also spoke on the subject. According to him, this promotion encourages people to visit northern Peru. It also helps to increase tourism in the area by almost 10%.

Miraflores was chosen for this activity for a clear reason. First, it is the district of Lima with the most tourists. It also receives around 11 million visitors each year. Therefore, it is a good place to promote the route of Pope Leo XIV.
