On December 14, something very tasty happened in Japan. On that day, the Peruvian Embassy organized a special event in the city of Osaka. It also had the support of the Municipality of Nishiyodogawa and the merchants of Dekijima. As a result, many people were able to learn about Peruvian food, famous for its great flavor and variety.

First, there was a cooking class. Peruvian chef Jaquelyn Fernández taught participants step by step how to prepare well-known Peruvian dishes. For example, she explained how to make ceviche, tiradito, and lomo saltado. Then, the attendees cooked themselves, enthusiastically and curiously putting into practice everything they had learned.

Afterwards, the activity continued at the Hankyu Travel Center. There, the history of Peruvian cuisine was discussed. In addition, it was explained how this food has changed over time thanks to influences from many countries. It was also highlighted that ceviche was recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, which is a source of great pride for Peru.

Finally, the mayor of Nishiyodogawa, Kazuya Matsuda, was present at the event. During his participation, he commented that these activities help to bring Peru and Japan closer together. To close the day, more than thirty people, along with the mayor, tasted the prepared dishes. Thus, the event ended with smiles, new flavors, and a strong cultural exchange.
