PROMPERÚ helps Peruvian products get sold in other countries. That’s why it’s working hard to get Peruvian food to Asia. South Korea is super important here, since it’s like a gateway to other Asian markets.

Plus, Korea doesn’t just buy Peruvian products. It also helps them get to more countries. This way, Peru can sell more in Asia and in new ways.

Peruvian avocados arrive in Mongolia

For the first time, Mongolia is receiving Peruvian avocados. However, the avocados do not arrive fresh. Instead, they arrive in the form of a purée, also known as guacamole. This product is used in restaurants and, in particular, in KFC outlets in Mongolia.

This shipment is made possible thanks to several companies working together. First, BKMG is responsible for the market in Mongolia. Then, Latida and Westfalia supply the product from Korea. In addition, PROMPERÚ accompanies the entire process from its commercial office in Seoul.

South Korea: Gateway to Asia

In 2025, South Korea continues to be one of the countries with the highest per capita consumption of Peruvian avocados in the world. Therefore, it is a demanding but stable market. It is also a country that accepts new product formats, such as avocado puree.

Furthermore, Korea plays a key role in transportation and trade in Asia. This role was strengthened after the APEC Summit. As a result, it is now seen as an important hub for the region.

Thanks to this market, Peruvian avocados are no longer sold only fresh. They are now also offered in processed form. As a result, other Asian countries are beginning to take an interest in the Peruvian product.

In recent years, many restaurants in Korea have been using Latin American-style food. That is why Peruvian avocado puree is gaining ground. A good example is God Eat, a chain with more than 50 locations, which uses Peruvian avocados because of their high quality and because they are always in stock.

According to David Lee, CEO of BKMG, the market is changing. He explains that customers now demand consistent, high-quality products. That is why Peruvian avocados are becoming a reliable option for Korea and Mongolia.

This type of teamwork makes Korea a key market for growth in Asia. Thus, Peruvian products such as avocados can reach new countries.

In addition, PROMPERÚ is already thinking about other Peruvian foods. Together with Korean partners, it is evaluating new ways to use quinoa. As the tariff will drop to 0% in 2026, this product will have more opportunities in Korea.

In this way, the case of Peruvian avocados shows a path that other foods can follow. Thanks to added value, partnerships, and good market knowledge, Peru is strengthening its position as a reliable supplier in Asia.
