The Ministry of Culture announced some good news. Starting today, a new route joins the famous Inca Trail network that leads to the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. This will be route number 6 and will be able to receive up to 100 visitors each day.

To make it official, the Ministry published Ministerial Resolution No. 000294-2025-MC. This document changes part of the regulations governing the use of tourist trails. It was also published in the official gazette El Peruano.

The text also notes that routes 1 to 4 can accommodate 500 people per day, while route 5 can only receive 250 visitors per day.

Furthermore, the number of tourists may increase if certain conditions are met. For example, if basic services and infrastructure are improved, or if the protection of cultural heritage is ensured. Environmental impact assessments and good tourism management will also be taken into account.

All these decisions will be reviewed by the National Service of Natural Areas Protected by the State and the Decentralized Directorate of Culture of Cusco.

Finally, the Ministry of Culture announced that starting Monday, November 17, visitors will be able to reserve and pay for 2026 entrance tickets to tour the Inca Trail Network and visit the citadel of Machu Picchu.
