The Kuélap Monumental Archaeological Complex will begin a new phase of work. The goal is to improve the visitor experience for everyone. To this end, they will modernize the Visitor Center. In addition, they will take steps to preserve this famous site in the Amazon region.

As part of this plan, the Ministry of Culture and the World Monuments Fund (WMF) Peru have signed an agreement. In other words, they have agreed to do three important things. First, they will completely renovate the Visitor Center. Second, they will preserve the stone facade of Malcapampa. Third, they will build a new trail. In this way, they seek to improve the tour. They also want the site to be well preserved for longer.

The work on the Visitor Center will change several areas. For example, they will update the interpretation rooms. They will also renovate the exhibition rooms. In addition, they will improve the audiovisual space to make it clearer and more entertaining. They will even add modern museum resources to better tell the story of Kuélap and explain what makes this site special. This way, visitors will be able to learn more without complications. At the same time, the visit will be more accessible for families, students, and tourists from other countries. Therefore, more responsible and environmentally conscious tourism is expected.

On the other hand, the project includes caring for the stone doorway in the Malcapampa sector. This doorway is part of one of the five monuments in the complex. Therefore, specialized work will be carried out on site to study and protect it. In addition, they want to slow down the damage caused by the passage of time and the weather. This will ensure that the structure remains firm and secure as a key piece of heritage.

In addition, a new 280-meter path will be built. This path will connect the doorway with the Visitor Center. This will make the circuit more orderly. It will also be easier to walk around the archaeological site. Finally, the visit will be more comfortable and clearer for those arriving for the first time.
