Peruvian Gastronomy present at the Rock in Rio Festival 2026
Peruvian restaurant Chicharrón, founded by chef and entrepreneur Marco Espinoza (based in Rio de Janeiro) alongside fellow Peruvian chef Raúl Pareja, will be taking part in the Rock in Rio 2026 Festival, set to take place in Rio de Janeiro from September 4 to 13, bringing attendees some of the most iconic dishes of Peruvian cuisine.
Rock in Rio is regarded as one of the most important music festivals in the world. Since it was first held in 1985, it has brought world-renowned artists to Rio de Janeiro and draws more than 700,000 people each edition, making it a major driver of tourism, gastronomy, and commerce in the city.
For this edition, Chicharrón will be one of the festival’s new food offerings, serving up representative Peruvian dishes such as Ceviche, Pan con Chicharrón, and Salchi Broaster, bringing the flavors of Peru to hundreds of thousands of visitors from Brazil and abroad.
The restaurant first opened its doors in Copacabana in January 2026, and thanks to the warm reception from Brazilian diners, it now has three locations in Rio de Janeiro, with plans to expand into other cities across the country.
Marco Espinoza is recognized as one of the leading champions of Peruvian cuisine in Brazil and actively collaborates with the country’s diplomatic and consular missions. In addition to Chicharrón, he runs other restaurants in Rio de Janeiro, including Lima Cocina Peruana, Kinjo (a Peruvian-Japanese fusion spot), and Cantón (Peruvian-Chinese fusion), as well as locations in Brasília and São Paulo, steadily helping raise the profile of Peruvian cuisine in the Brazilian market.
