The number of flights from Santiago to Cusco will increase from 10 to 17 in 2027

Starting January 1, 2027, the number of weekly flights between Santiago (Chile) and Cusco will nearly double, increasing from the current ten to seventeen. Latam will continue to operate its ten flights between the two cities, and starting in 2027, Sky Airlines will add seven additional flights.

According to Rogers Valencia, Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, these new routes are part of a strategy aimed at improving the international connectivity of various airports across the country, given that the vast majority of international flights arriving in Peru have Lima as their sole destination. The minister stated that Peru is one of the few Latin American countries with only a single international airport.

Likewise, the possibility of establishing direct flights between Chiclayo, in the north of the country, and the Ecuadorian cities of Quito and Cuenca is being evaluated, in addition to connecting Iquitos, the capital of the Amazon region, with Colombia via direct flights.

As for Jorge Chávez Airport, which serves both Lima and the port city of Callao, Valencia announced that Turkish Airlines is expected to begin operating in the country by early 2027, with a route connecting Istanbul and Lima via a stopover in Caracas.

Similarly, the direct route between Lima and Salt Lake City, which was previously operated by the U.S. airline Delta, is expected to resume early next year.

Although no specific date has been set yet, the Peruvian government continues to work toward bringing Emirates, a airline from the United Arab Emirates, to Lima, which would operate a route from Dubai with a stopover in Milan, as well as the arrival of Qatar Airways.
