The Peruvian Navy will participate in “Velas Latinoamérica 2027”

The Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (PromPerú) and the Peruvian Navy are coordinating the country’s participation in “Velas Latinoamérica 2027,” a major international event that will bring together prominent sailing training ships from various navies in the region on Peruvian soil, thus providing an ideal opportunity to strengthen the country’s image and promote the Peru Brand.

During a recent working meeting, PromPerú’s executive president, Teresa Mera, met with the technical secretary of the Multisectoral Commission for State Action in the Maritime Domain (COMAEM), Rear Admiral Antonio Vildoso, along with their respective technical teams, to discuss the joint initiatives that both entities could undertake while the ships are in the country.

“This significant international event represents an opportunity to strengthen Peru’s image and showcase our identity, culture, and our export and tourism offerings to diverse audiences. At PromPerú, we have expressed our willingness to join forces with the Peruvian Navy and our partners to evaluate initiatives that will help expand the reach of ‘Velas Latinoamérica 2027’ and strengthen the presence of the Peru Brand,” said Mera Gómez.

The proposal includes coordinating activities to promote the “Marca Perú” brand and initiatives aimed at both local and foreign visitors, as well as bringing on board strategic partners and allies who can help increase the impact of the training ships’ presence in the country.

This participation also complements the work carried out in collaboration with the Peruvian Navy through Casa Perú, an initiative established aboard the B.A.P. Unión aimed at promoting the Peru Brand, sector-specific brands, and the country’s tourist destinations during its training voyages abroad.

The “Velas Latinoamérica 2027” voyage will take place from February 6 to September 17, 2027, covering 16 ports. During this period, the participating training ships will gather in Callao alongside the B.A.P. Unión, the Peruvian Navy’s training ship.

Among the vessels taking part, in addition to the B.A.P. Unión, are iconic vessels such as Argentina’s “Libertad,” Chile’s “Esmeralda,” Colombia’s “Gloria,” Ecuador’s “Guayas,” Brazil’s “Cisne Branco,” Mexico’s “Cuauhtémoc,” Uruguay’s “Capitán Miranda,” and the Dominican Republic’s “Cambiaso,” among others.
