The San Martín region remains the most visited destination in the Peruvian Amazon in the first months of 2025. This was reported by the Regional Directorate of Foreign Trade and Tourism of the San Martín Regional Government. In addition, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism presented a report supporting this growth.

According to this report, San Martín received 601,181 visitors between January and June 2025. This is the highest figure in the entire Amazon region. It also shows an increase of 1.10% compared to the same period in 2024. As a result, the region is progressing at a good pace and remains strong in the northeast of the country.

On the other hand, more and more domestic and foreign tourists are arriving in the area. This is because San Martín offers a variety of experiences. It is also because it has better services and adequate infrastructure to welcome travelers.

In addition, the report explains that San Martín ranks second in terms of foreign tourist arrivals among the northern Amazonian regions. It even shows a 0.7% growth compared to last year. This progress is due to new activities designed for visitors from other countries and more sustainable tourism products. It is also due to the constant promotion of the region in important markets.

If we compare the Amazonian figures, San Martín surpasses Amazonas, Ucayali, Madre de Dios, Loreto, and Huánuco. This makes it the most visited Amazonian region during this period. Its nature, culture, and adventure activities attract thousands of people. In addition, more and more formal services are reinforcing the quality of the destination.

Finally, the San Martín Regional Government reaffirms its commitment to promoting tourism. To this end, it is implementing actions within the Competitive Tourism and Foreign Trade Program to 2040. This work seeks to improve the competitiveness, sustainability, and innovation of the sector. It also promotes unity between the private sector, local governments, and the community. Thus, San Martín is expected to consolidate itself as a sustainable destination recognized nationally and internationally.
