The Sacsayhuamán archaeological park is located high above the city of Cusco. It is now widely recognized. The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Mincetur, awarded it a Level 4 rating. This is the highest distinction for a tourist attraction. Machu Picchu also has this rating. Sacsayhuamán is therefore one of the most important sites in the country.

The plaque was presented on a special date. It marked 42 years since Sacsayhuamán was declared a National Cultural Heritage Site. This declaration was made through Law No. 23765. The ceremony took place in Llaullipata, on the park’s large esplanade. It was a brief but very emotional ceremony.

During the event, representatives of Gercetur unveiled the plaque of recognition. They highlighted the importance of the site. They pointed out that Sacsayhuamán is one of the main cultural and tourist attractions in Cusco. They also highlighted its value for all of Peru.

María Cristina Quispe Suco, deputy director of Cultural Heritage in Cusco, took the floor. She explained the significance of this date. She said that the commemoration invites us to remember the great historical value of the place. It also reaffirms the commitment to care for it. This includes researching, conserving, and promoting the heritage. Everything is done with the people of today and tomorrow in mind.

On the other hand, Guadalupe Quiroga, head of the park team, spoke about the recognition. She emphasized that this distinction strengthens joint efforts. Culture and tourism now work more closely together. Thanks to this, responsible use of the site can be promoted. Its protection and respect are always prioritized.

Finally, Amparo Morales, representative of Gercetur Cusco, provided further details. She explained that the recognition was the result of a rigorous technical evaluation. She also highlighted that Sacsayhuamán demonstrates the great knowledge of the Incas. It reflects their engineering, architecture, and worldview. It is also a symbol of the historical memory of the people of Cusco.

Several authorities attended the ceremony. Representatives of the local and regional government were present. Tourism Police officers and workers from the Decentralized Directorate of Culture also participated. Everyone accompanied this important moment.
