The Barranquilla restaurant La Perlita has made it onto the list of the world’s best restaurants. Furthermore, Condé Nast Traveler magazine’s 2026 Hot List included it among its new culinary recommendations. As a result, the restaurant appears in an exclusive selection that redefines the global elite of gastronomy.

ComexPerú also celebrated the news on social media. According to the organization, this achievement strengthens the image of Peruvian cuisine worldwide. Furthermore, it confirms that Peru continues to gain ground on the international culinary scene.

In its review, the magazine highlights something special. La Perlita does not focus on luxury or molecular cuisine. Instead, it presents itself as a tavern with character in a city like Lima.

Furthermore, the magazine describes the place as a simple bar inside a traditional Lima building. It has white walls and wooden floors that creak when you walk on them. Because of this, the atmosphere feels intimate and full of life right up until closing time.

Likewise, the publication highlights its food, which evokes a sense of nostalgia. Among its dishes are a spicy tiradito of sea urchin tongues and silverside. It also mentions the ceviche with a strong flavor of red rocoto and a caigua stuffed with stewed meat served in a flavorful broth.

On the other hand, the experience doesn’t end with the food. At night, the piano plays. Sometimes, customers even end up dancing.

This distinction is part of the 30th edition of the Hot List. Each year, this list highlights new or recently reopened hotels, restaurants, and cruise ships that stand out around the world.

To compile it, editors and contributors spend a year traveling to various destinations. In doing so, they discover innovative offerings ranging from surprising small eateries to elegant, internationally renowned restaurants.

Beyond the well-known names, La Perlita’s inclusion on this list sends a clear signal. Peru not only maintains its culinary prestige of food but also continues to introduce new offerings capable of competing at the highest level.

Lima is already viewed as a major gastronomic hub. As a result, Peruvian cuisine once again demonstrates its ability to innovate, remain strong, and reinvent itself on the global stage.

The owner and chef of La Perlita, in Barranco, is Ricardo Martins. He also founded the renowned restaurant Siete.
