Peruvian Pisco Makes Its Mark in Colombia with PROMPERÚ’s First Pisco College Edition
Pisco College arrived in Bogotá for the first time. And, from the outset, it showcased the culture and art of pisco in a clear and accessible way. It also presented its history and value as a symbol of Peru.
On October 27 and 28, the Colombian capital became the center of pisco. It also welcomed Peruvian wine as a special guest. As a result, there were classes, tastings, and moments designed to celebrate the food of Peru.
More than 90 Colombian professionals participated. On the one hand, bartenders from luxury hotels attended. On the other, diplomatic representatives and specialized audiences were present. Finally, an open session was held for the “Friends of Peru.” There, the experience was more relaxed and also had a great impact on social media.
The classes were led by sommelier Pedro Cuenca and mixologist Víctor Arévalo. They taught simple techniques and recipes that showed how versatile pisco is. For example, they explained how to prepare a Pisco Sour, a Chilcano, and a Capitán. Then, they guided the audience toward new blends such as Pisco Tonic, Passion Blue, and Red Chilcano, made with local fruits.
Peruvian wine also shone. And, thanks to its aromas and flavors, it surprised the Colombian audience.
Between 2020 and 2024, pisco exports to Colombia exceeded one million dollars. In addition, they totaled more than 154,000 liters. These figures show steady growth and an increasingly strong presence in that market.
Pisco College Bogotá 2025 was organized by PROMPERÚ’s Trade Office in Colombia and the Peruvian Embassy. Both institutions thus reaffirmed their commitment to promoting pisco and Peruvian wine.
Through activities such as this, PROMPERÚ continues to strengthen Peru’s image. It also promotes tourism and helps more products with designation of origin reach the world market.
