Peru Wins Another Tourism Award in China
Peru continues to strengthen its position as a valuable tourist destination for the Chinese market. This is due to new international recognition highlighting its culture, environmental stewardship, and growing popularity among Chinese travelers. According to PROMPERÚ, these signs show that the country is progressing and becoming better known.
In addition, the Chinese magazine Voyage awarded Peru the title of Best Cultural Destination after a vote by its readers. The PROMPERÚ Trade Office in Beijing then received official recognition at a ceremony. The event was attended by tour operators, opinion leaders, and representatives of Chinese institutions linked to tourism.
Voyage has a lot of influence in China, especially in high-end travel. In previous years, it has also recognized Peru for its focus on sustainability and the quality of its tourist experiences, something that many travelers value when choosing a destination.
Peru also received another award as one of the 10 most popular travel destinations in China. This recognition was presented during an annual ceremony that rewards tourism service providers for their quality. In addition, this event has been held without interruption for 21 years and is therefore considered one of the benchmarks for tourism in China.
This award marks the fifth time that Peru has been honored at this event. The result shows that the Chinese market’s interest in the country remains strong over time.
As you may recall, just a month ago China recognized Peru as the World’s Best Specialized Destination. This distinction highlighted the variety of experiences the country offers and the advancement of its image as a unique destination within the Asian market. Therefore, these two new awards received in Beijing reinforce Peru’s presence in one of the world’s most important tourism markets.
Finally, the 2026 Spring Festival Tourism Consumption Trends Report, prepared by the China Association of Travel Agencies, included Peru among the ten destinations with the greatest increase in popularity in that market. In addition, the report presents relevant statistics and also offers a useful analysis of how tourism consumption habits are changing in China.
These achievements coincide with an increase in Chinese visitors to Peru. In 2025, more than 44,000 passengers arrived from China, representing an estimated growth of 11%. PROMPERÚ therefore noted that this progress confirms the positive evolution of a strategic market and the impact of its promotional activities as an entity attached to Mincetur.
