Peru Showcases Its Cultural Riches at the “Picnic Pozsony” in Budapest

This is the renowned “Pozsony Picnic” cultural festival, held on the banks of the Danube River and organized by the City Council of District XIII of Budapest, the Hungarian capital.

A large number of visitors, both local and foreign, had the opportunity to learn about Peruvian history, traditions, and major tourist destinations during the “Pozsony Picnic.” The event was graced by the presence of representatives from the Peruvian Embassy accredited in Hungary.

This traditional event brings together tens of thousands of participants each year and serves as an important platform for promoting cultural diversity and fostering connections between different communities. Peru’s presence was marked by a booth that sparked great interest among attendees. The booth featured photographs showcasing the country’s natural, culinary, and cultural richness.

In addition, a variety of in-person and virtual activities were held for both children and adults, sparking considerable interest in learning more about Peru.

Among the elements that most caught the attention of Hungarian families were the depictions of alpacas and Pucará bulls, which helped foster a close and positive connection with Peru’s image. Peru’s participation was further enhanced by a performance from the Peruvian dance troupe “Sonqoy Tusuy” in Budapest, which delivered a colorful showcase of our folklore on one of the festival’s stages.

Peru’s presence at the 2026 “Pozsony Picnic” reaffirms the embassy’s commitment to promoting the country’s culture abroad and to strengthening the bonds of friendship and understanding between Peru and Hungary.
