Peru’s July 2026 Long Weekend: Dates, Travel Ideas for the Four-Day Break

Finally, the government of José María Balcázar approved a decree establishing non-working days in Peru. The measure aims to boost domestic tourism. However, this year there will be only one non-working day in July.

Supreme Decree No. 075-2026-PCM was published by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers. It also states that the day off will be mandatory for public sector workers. But it will not be a typical holiday. The hours not worked must be made up later.

The non-working day will be Monday, July 27, 2026. This will create a long weekend in conjunction with the national holiday on Tuesday, July 28. Thus, many people will be able to rest from Saturday, July 25, through Tuesday, July 28.

New Non-Working Day

The government explained that this measure aims to promote domestic travel. It also noted that long weekends help more families visit different destinations in Peru.

For this reason, the Balcázar administration deemed it necessary to declare a compensable non-working day for the public sector in 2026.

• The regulation states that Monday, July 27, 2026, will be a nationwide non-working day for public sector employees.
• The long holiday weekend will span four days: Saturday, July 25; Sunday, July 26; Monday, July 27; and Tuesday, July 28.
