Peru is leading nominations to get awards at the World Travel Awards South America 2026, considered among the most important recognitions in the international tourism industry. An open vote on June 12.

Peru is competing in more than 20 categories. Among the main ones are South America’s Leading Destination 2026, South America’s Leading Culinary Destination 2026, South America’s Leading Cultural Destination 2026, South America’s Leading Nature Destination 2026, and South America’s Leading Driver of Sustainable Tourism 2026.
Likewise, Machu Picchu will seek to maintain its recognition as South America’s Leading Tourist Attraction, while cities like Lima and Cusco are featured in categories related to culture, meetings, city breaks, and events.
According to Promperú, these nominations reflect the country’s growing standing thanks to a tourism promotion strategy focused on diversifying the national offerings and strengthening segments such as gastronomy, nature, adventure, luxury, sustainable tourism, and meetings.
Other categories include adventure tourism, cruises, whale watching, youth tourism, and sports tourism. Additionally, Máncora is nominated for Best Beach Destination in South America, and Promperú for Best Tourist Office in South America.
To vote, users must visit Vote for Peru (https://linktr.ee/votaporperu), register on the official awards platform, and confirm the email they received. They must then return to the link to select Peru in the various nominated categories before voting closes on June 12.
