Peru to Host the 2028 World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations Convention
On Friday, February 13, in the city of Fukuoka, Japan. Peru was chosen as the host country for the 2028 World Convention of the WFTGA. This is a very important international organization. It brings together professional tour guides from around the world.
This result is a historic event. Because, after many years, this event is returning to the American continent. The last time was in 1997.
The Peruvian delegation presented its candidacy with a clear and strong proposal. First, it spoke of the unity of the country. It also highlighted its living heritage and its value. It also explained why it is important to interpret history and culture well. For this reason, the WFTGA saw Peru as a good host for 2028, as the idea sought to strengthen the guiding profession throughout the Americas and improve working standards.
To achieve this, Peru received logistical support from its Embassy in Japan. Thanks to this, the team was able to better organize its participation. Thus, the application process was more orderly and effective. With this election, Peru confirms its commitment to tour guides. At the same time, it promotes sustainable tourism that respects culture.
The 2028 WFTGA World Convention is a great opportunity for the country. In particular, it will serve to showcase Peru as a leader in cultural tourism and heritage interpretation. It will also help to promote high professional standards to visitors and experts from different countries, which may lead to more partnerships and bring benefits to many regions. The program will include cities such as Lima, Arequipa, Cusco, Puno (Uros floating Islands), and Nazca. In addition, other areas could be added to offer new experiences. This will allow visitors to learn more about Peru’s history and diversity.
