The Peruvian Embassy in Switzerland participated in “FESTIVA Basel by Expolat.” It is the largest Latin American cultural fair in that city. In addition, the Embassy team wanted to showcase Peruvian food and tourist attractions in the country. That is why it prepared simple and very eye-catching activities. It also talked to many people who wanted to learn about Peru. As a result, more visitors learned about our dishes, our cities, and our customs.

On the other hand, the Embassy, the University of Basel, and the Vargas Llosa Chair organized a special colloquium. There, they paid tribute to the Peruvian writer Mario Vargas Llosa. In addition, several panelists talked about his books and explained how his work helped Spanish-language literature.

Peruvian writers Renato Cisneros and Fietta Jarque shared their experiences. Then, the representative of the Vargas Llosa Chair, Ramiro Villapadierna, gave more details about the author’s importance. Meanwhile, journalist Rodrigo Carrizo Couto guided the conversation. He asked clear questions so that everyone could understand.

After the colloquium, the day continued with more cultural activities. For example, the Peruvian ambassador, Julio Garro, participated in a talk organized by the Peruvian Cultural Platform in Zurich. He also spoke with members of the Peruvian Association of Professionals, Academics, and Researchers in Switzerland.
