Peru Competes in the 2025 World Travel Awards, Challenging Adventure Tourism Powerhouses
Travelers dream of surfing in Australia or climbing mountains in Canada. But Peru rivals them all. From the immense dunes of the Ica desert to the snow-capped mountains of the Cordillera Blanca, there are adventures to be discovered. That is why Peru competes with the world’s leading countries for the title of World’s Leading Adventure Tourism Destination.
We compete with Australia, Canada, Indonesia, Japan, and the United States. This nomination aims to show the world that the country is perfect for those seeking new adventures every year. In Peru, you can go hiking, mountain climbing, biking, surfing, and try water sports. All of this can be enjoyed in popular destinations and some lesser-known places such as the Ica desert, the Cordillera Blanca, and the Colca Valley.
According to Promperú, the institution that promotes tourism, these nominations are the result of joint efforts. The goal is to show the world a variety of options and continue to compete with our rivals. In addition, Promperú highlighted that “Peru is a place where adventure, history, and nature come together in every corner.”
There is something else I haven’t told you yet. Peru is also participating in eight other international categories. Voting will be open until October 26 and can be done on the official World Travel Awards website.
In recent years, Peru has been recognized in several competitions. Among them are 12 awards for Best Culinary Destination in the World and six for Best Cultural Destination in the World. These achievements demonstrate that the country holds secrets that adventurers will love.
