As a prelude to AdventureELEVATE Latin America 2026, the most important training, negotiation, and networking event for the adventure tourism industry in Latin America, a group of international tour operators and specialized media are visiting various tourist destinations within the country on familiarization trips organized by PROMPERÚ in coordination with APTAE.

The tours are taking place from June 11 to 15. Thanks to this initiative, delegates and representatives from strategic markets in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Australia, and China have the opportunity to experience firsthand some of the main adventure and nature experiences that Peru offers.

The travel itineraries focus on four strategic destinations for this sector: Áncash, Cusco, Ica, and Madre de Dios. These regions stand out for their great diversity of landscapes, natural wealth, and a significant offering of specialized activities for adventure travelers. Ancash: Experts explore internationally renowned high-mountain landscapes, such as the Cordillera Blanca, considered one of South America’s premier trekking destinations. The region has further solidified its international prestige after receiving recent awards that recognize it as one of the world’s most outstanding adventure destinations.

Cusco: In the imperial region, guests embark on trekking routes that combine nature, history, and living culture. This reaffirms Cusco’s magnetism for those seeking profound experiences in the heart of the Andes.

Ica: The international group discovers the stunning coastal landscapes of Paracas and the dunes of Huacachina. Activities such as hiking, marine wildlife watching, and sandboarding demonstrate the diverse experiences available in a single region.

Madre de Dios: Participants venture into the rainforest to witness Peru’s mega-biodiversity through wildlife observation and experiences linked to sustainable tourism in one of the planet’s most important ecosystems. These expeditions allow tour operators and specialized media to experience firsthand the quality of tourism services, available infrastructure, and the commercial potential of Peruvian destinations. This will enhance future promotion and marketing opportunities in international markets.

It is worth noting that these visits are part of PROMPERÚ’s (a branch of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism) strategic plans, which aim to solidify the country’s position as a global leader in adventure tourism. Currently, 52% of foreign tourists visiting Peru participate in activities related to this segment, with trekking and mountaineering being among the most popular experiences.

The AdventureELEVATE Latin America 2026 event will take place from June 16 to 18 in Lima and will bring together more than 250 stakeholders from the international tourism industry, including tour operators, specialized media, opinion leaders, and industry experts, thus contributing to the strengthening of inbound tourism and Peru’s international positioning as a leading adventure and nature destination.
