The Executive Unit for Investment in Foreign Trade and Tourism (UICET) reported that the project to improve public tourist services at the Machu Picchu Archaeological Park has been successfully completed.

This project has the CUI number 2573436. Furthermore, it marks a significant step forward because it enhances the visitor experience at one of the world’s most famous tourist destinations.

The main focus of this project was tourist signage. Therefore, this aspect is key to better organizing the visit and helping people navigate a site as large as Machu Picchu.

The project had a contract value of S/ 339,062.35. The Machu Picchu Consortium was responsible for its execution. With this, UICET completed this important project, directly benefiting 1,626,075 residents with a service that is now operational.

The project included the installation of 181 signs. These were placed at strategic points along the three circuits of the Llaqta. They were also located on the mountains of Machu Picchu, Waynapicchu, and Huchuypicchu. Similarly, they were installed along the path to Puente Inca.

These signs include various types. For example, there are interpretive, orientation, special, and directory information panels. This will make the tourist’s visit clearer and safer. Additionally, these signs help visitors navigate the site more easily and allow for a deeper understanding of the archaeological site’s significance.

The completion of this project demonstrates UICET’s commitment to the sustainable development of tourism in Peru. In this regard, it ensures high-quality services and infrastructure that enhance the visitor experience and also help preserve the country’s cultural and natural heritage. Therefore, improving signage at Machu Picchu represents another important step toward strengthening Peru’s image as a world-class tourist destination.

UICET also reaffirmed its commitment to implementing projects that strengthen tourism and foreign trade. In this way, it promotes the country’s economic and social development.
