Labor Day Holiday Drives More Than 955,000 Domestic Tourist Trips

Minister José Reyes Llanos reported that more than 955,000 Peruvians traveled within the country during the Labor Day holiday. In addition, these trips generated approximately US$136 million. As a result, domestic tourism showed positive signs.

According to a survey of hotels, travel agencies, and transportation companies, tourists stayed an average of three nights. They also spent approximately S/500 per person. This assessment included Arequipa, Ica, Lambayeque, La Libertad, and Lima Provinces.

Furthermore, some regions saw strong results. Chiclayo welcomed nearly 66,000 tourists. Trujillo received about 77,000 visitors. Similarly, Ica recorded around 39,000 domestic tourists.

In Lima Provinces, the northern region received more than 52,000 tourists. This area includes Barranca, Huacho, Huaral, and Chancay. Additionally, Cañete and Lunahuaná remained favorite destinations for short trips.

Meanwhile, national hotel occupancy reached 60.5%. This represented an increase of 3.6 percentage points. Lambayeque, Lima Provinces, and Ica stood out in this result.

Likewise, travel agencies maintained stable activity. Their growth was 1.4 percentage points. Additionally, transportation companies reported more passengers than during the same holiday period the previous year.

In summary, more Peruvians traveled during this holiday. As a result, domestic tourism helped boost the economy in several regions of the country.
