Colca Valley Launches Its 2026 Holy Week Program in Lima
The Colca Valley is one of Arequipa’s most important tourist destinations. That is why it came to Lima to present its activities for Holy Week 2026. It also showcased traditions, culture, and tourism. All of this is part of a plan to attract more visitors.
The event was organized by Autocolca in collaboration with local and Lima authorities. The municipalities of Caylloma and Lima also participated. During the presentation, the Wititi dance was performed. This dance is recognized as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The Andean condor, which represents the valley’s identity, was also featured.
Later, a parade took place in downtown Lima. There, the customs and traditions of the Colca Valley were showcased. For example, there was traditional music and dance. As a result, many people became interested in visiting the area. Some tourists even sought out more information about the destination.
During the event, officials delivered clear messages. First, they emphasized the importance of promoting new destinations. They also explained that this helps avoid relying solely on well-known sites. In this way, tourism grows in more regions of the country and supports local development.
On the other hand, an important agreement was discussed. This agreement will be between Autocolca and the Municipality of Lima. The goal is to better promote the Colca Valley throughout the country. It is also expected to attract more travelers in the future.
Finally, the authorities invited everyone to visit Colca during Holy Week. It offers a truly special experience, combining faith, culture, and breathtaking landscapes that make it a unique destination in Peru and one of the most representative for those seeking to discover living traditions.
