Peru has been recognized worldwide. It was chosen as the “Best Niche Destination in the World.” The award was given by Travelling Scope magazine during its annual Star Awards 2025 competition.

The award was officially presented to the PROMPERÚ Trade Office in Shanghai. The ceremony was held in that city on December 22. As a result, Peru achieved a prominent presence in the Chinese market.

The award recognizes unique destinations, i.e., countries that offer different and authentic experiences. In addition, high cultural content is valued. In this context, Peru was identified as an ideal destination for the specialized Chinese traveler.

This type of traveler is looking for something more. They are not satisfied with traditional routes. They prefer exceptional natural landscapes. They also want direct contact with ancient cultures. In addition, they value internationally recognized cuisine.

This recognition is a great opportunity. First, it allows Peru to strengthen its position in China. Second, it helps to consolidate it as a high-value destination. This attracts travelers who prioritize authenticity. They also seek cultural depth. And, above all, quality experiences.

Travelling Scope is one of China’s most important tourism media outlets. It specializes in reports, recommendations, and analysis of trends in the sector. Its audience includes experienced travelers. Industry professionals also participate. In addition, it reaches segments with high purchasing power. Therefore, its influence is very significant.

For its part, Mincetur, through PROMPERÚ, continues to promote activities in China. The objective is clear: to promote and position Peru, as well as to strengthen its presence and recognition, highlighting its natural, cultural, and gastronomic wealth.

Finally, it is important to note a key fact. China is the main source market for Asian tourists to Peru. Between January and November 2025, the country received 38,384 Chinese tourists. This figure represents an 11% increase. In other words, interest in Peru continues to grow.
