MTC and LAP Coordinate Efforts to Promote New Air Routes in Peru

The head of the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC), Rafael Rey Rey, held a meeting with the CEO of Lima Airport Partners (LAP), Juan José Salmón, with the aim of strengthening their joint efforts and promoting initiatives focused on the development of the new Jorge Chávez International Airport, as well as attracting new airlines and routes to Peru.

During the meeting, they evaluated opportunities to expand the country’s air connectivity, creating more travel options for citizens and contributing to the development of tourism and commercial and economic activities linked to air travel.

Also participating in the meeting were representatives from the General Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGAC) and the General Directorate of Transportation Programs and Projects (DGPPT) of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MTC), who discussed the initiatives being promoted by the sector to strengthen air connectivity and create favorable conditions for the entry of new airlines and the development of new routes.

In addition, the session highlighted the upcoming World Annual General Assembly, Conference, and Exhibition (WAGA) 2026, a major international gathering of the airport industry that will be hosted by Lima and will bring together leaders, officials, and representatives from the airport sector across various markets.

Hosting this event will position Peru as a leading player in the global airport sector, while also providing an opportunity to showcase the country’s progress in airport infrastructure and connectivity and to promote investment and cooperation opportunities.

The MTC reaffirms its commitment to continue working in coordination with the various stakeholders in the sector to strengthen Peru’s air connectivity, increase transportation options for citizens, and consolidate the country’s position as an attractive destination for new investments and airline operations.
