Mincetur to Promote Direct Flight between Sao Paulo and Cusco

The Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Rogers Valencia, confirmed that an airline has requested permission to operate direct flights between Sao Paulo (Brazil) and Cusco, as revealed by the Director General of Civil Aeronautics, Paola Marín.

In this regard, Rogers Valencia, the head of Mincetur, stated that he would meet with aviation authorities the following day to request the launch of the Sao Paulo to Cusco flight, with the aim of making it easier for Brazilian tourists wishing to visit the country’s main attractions, especially the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu.

Minister Valencia emphasized the need for an air route between Manaus and Cusco that would take an estimated three hours, which would boost the arrival of tourists from this important Brazilian region.

Minister Valencia stated that flights between Peru and Brazil only reach four per day, unlike other countries that have better connectivity with the South American giant. “Argentina receives 2.5 million Brazilian tourists per year who arrive via direct flights to Bariloche in the winter and, in the summer, visit Patagonia (southern Argentina), as well as direct flights to Iguazu and the central part of that country,” he added.

“Meanwhile, Peru only has one international airport. What needs to be done is to promote flights in order to have a greater flow of Brazilian tourists to our country. If you think about tourism, you have to promote flights,” said the head of Mincetur.

Finally, Rogers Valencia confirmed that Turkish Airlines will soon begin operations in the country and announced that, before the end of this year, the Turkish airline will carry out a test flight to Lima.
