Adidas Andes Race 2026 took place in the Sacred Valley of the Incas
Cusco hosted another edition of the Adidas Andes Race 2026 on August 14 and 15. This trail running race brought together more than 1,100 Peruvian and international runners. With the support of PROMPERÚ, an agency of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur), as a strategic partner, the event showcased the natural landscapes, cultural heritage, and adventure experiences of the Sacred Valley.
Based on the ancient routes traveled by the chaskis of the Tawantinsuyo, the race combined sports, nature, history, and living culture across distances of 13K, 30K, 60K, and 100K.
It is worth noting that many participants took advantage of their stay in Cusco to sightsee and acclimate to the altitude before competing, accompanied by family and friends. During their time there, they visited some of the region’s main destinations, including Lake Humantay, Machu Picchu, Ollantaytambo, and Chinchero.
PROMPERÚ organized various activities for the runners and the attending public, including the distribution of merchandise and beverages made with regional products. Photo booths with backdrops inspired by the country’s tourist destinations were also set up, where visitors could take photos and print them as a souvenir of their experience.
As part of the event’s promotional strategy, PROMPERÚ also launched an international sports tourism campaign targeting Brazil, Chile, Colombia, and Ecuador, with an estimated reach of 7 million people. In addition, a mini-documentary was produced in collaboration with Sony Pictures, which helps position Peru as an attractive destination for travelers interested in sports, adventure, and nature.
In this way, Adidas Andes Race has established itself as an international showcase for promoting Peru, highlighting the variety of experiences the country offers and generating new travel motivations related to sports and adventure tourism.
