There are places you visit once and remember. And then there are places you want to return to.

For us, Qeyupay, a small community in Lares, Cusco, has become one of those places.

For the past three years, we have been visiting this community, building a connection with local families and, especially, with the children. Every visit has been different, but they all share the same purpose: to return, spend time together, and offer our support.

A Visit During the Cold Season

On July 20, 2026, we returned to Qeyupay during one of the coldest times of the year in the highlands.

This time, we brought several things for the approximately 55 children in the community, from kindergarten through primary and secondary school.

We brought warm jackets to help protect them from the cold, as well as stuffed animals, notebooks, pens, cookies, and chocolates to share with all the children.

For us, it was not only about bringing supplies. We wanted to spend time with the children, share a special day with them, and let them know that we continue to remember them and care about their community.

A Commitment That Continues

We are also fortunate not to do this alone.

During this visit, we once again had the support of our friend Gerald Sprague, who has been helping us with this initiative and has become an important part of our visits to Qeyupay.

Having people who believe in this work and are willing to contribute makes it possible for us to continue returning and supporting the community.

Three Years of Returning to Qeyupay

Our connection with Qeyupay began three years ago, and since then, we have made a commitment to return at different times of the year.

We have visited during the Christmas season, bringing gifts and sharing special moments with the children. We have also returned during the cold season, when warm clothing becomes especially important for families living in the highlands.

Each visit has helped us understand the community a little better and reminded us that supporting a community should not be limited to a single day or a single occasion.

We want to be present at different times of the year and continue building a relationship based on consistency and genuine connection.

Coming Back Is Part of Our Commitment

Whenever we leave Qeyupay, we know there is still more to do.

That is why our commitment continues.

We want to return every year, especially during the Christmas season and the cold season, and continue bringing things that can be useful to the children and families of the community.

Around 55 children are part of this story. Some are just beginning kindergarten, others are in primary school, and others are already in secondary school.

Over these three years, getting to know them and returning to their community has shown us that a small gesture can become something much bigger when it is continued over time.

Qeyupay Will Always Be a Place We Return To

On July 20, 2026, we once again left Qeyupay grateful for the day we had shared, but also with one clear thought:

This story is not over.

We will return.

After three years, Qeyupay is no longer simply a community we visit. It has become a community with which we have built a connection, and one that we want to continue supporting in the years ahead.
